It Is Accomplished
I’m proud to announce the release of my first book Get Wise Or Die Trying: Musings & Memoirs On Mortality, Meaning & The Mystery Of Being Alive.
A few things worth mentioning.
It is pay-what-you-want, with a minimum of $5. (I’m scared to do the math of how much time actually went into this project.)
It is mostly a compilation of my first year writing here at Substack
It also features essays on autopoeisis, seven unpublished poems written between summer of 2019 and winter of 2020
It is in e-book format for now, though I plan to release a physical copy at a future date.
This is mostly an opportunity for any readers or subscribers to express some one-time support rather than the ongoing commitment of a paid monthly subscription.
Acknowledgements
While it seems mostly accidental that it is being released on the eve of American Thanksgiving, I am grateful all the same to be releasing this to the public. Then again, perhaps there are no accidents.
In the spirit of gratitude, I’ll share the acknowledgements made in the preface.
Although primarily an undertaking of self-publication, I would like to acknowledge those who greatly contributed to this project, without whom it is doubtful this would have been completed.
Rob Barcelon, the friend who issued the challenge to write a book and my men’s group who witnessed, supported and held me accountable.
To my writing group, for their weekly support, feedback and encouragement to keep going, publishing week after week. I offer my sincerest gratitude to Silvio Castelletti, Yehudis Milchtein, Michelle Varghese, Rachael Tiss, Oscar Obregon and Charlie Becker.
Thanks to Oscar Paulsson for his assistance in cover formatting.
Of course, many thanks to my Substack subscribers, readers and commenters, though two stand out in particular: Jeet Mondal and Rick Lewis, for their friendship and engagement, both online and offline. Last, thanks to David Perrell and the team at Write Of Passage, where I started my journey writing online in late September, 2022 as part of Cohort 9.
Thanks to Substack for making and continuing to improve a great platform for writers.
Happy Thanksgiving!
If you’d like to buy a copy of my book, you can do so here.
Just got my copy too!
This is wonderful news, Tai. Congratulations! I've just bought my copy. I wish this work of yours all the best. :)
