Hey folks,
Welcome to the second edition of Wednesday Wisdom where I curate what I’ve found noteworthy in the past week.
Let’s get to it.
What I’m reading
On the occasion of American Thanksgiving I revisited a Pocket Thich Nhat Hanh entry.
This is an excerpt of an email I sent.
The well of gratitude never really runs dry.
I was journaling today about a simple cup of coffee and a few hundred words later I still probably left some things out: the sun, soil, water, air, the plant itself, all of the humans and their artifacts involved in growing, harvesting, handling and selling, all of the technology and science involved in grinding and brewing, etc.
And that journaling was prompted by a pocket Thich Nhat Hanh (a Vietnamese Buddhist monk) book several years ago about the concept of interbeing -- the mutual interdependence of all things, the utter inseparability of existence - see attached photo.
It seems like gratitude is a portal to accessing this interbeing.
What I’ve been watching
A couple videos made the cut this week.
Neuroenlightenment
John Vervaeke makes another round this week with a talk that touches on several concepts I find fascinating: psychotechnology, the meta-crisis, wisdom, insight, breaking and making frame, and the role of technology in facilitating solutions, perhaps intimating transhumanist approaches like cognitive prosthetics (which we already to some extent already do with computers and smartphones).
Initiation to Game B
This one is just cool. I certainly felt some overtones of the Matrix and other Gnostic parables. The animated style and storytelling is compelling. See for yourself.
What I’m working on
I plan to publish my article on breathwork in time for the next issue.
I would like to expand on that short note above on gratitude and interbeing.
The primer to John Vervaeke also needs to be addressed. His TEDx talk linked this week does a pretty good job introducing intriguing concepts I found impactful to consider.
I bought a new domain for my freelance marketing endeavors. More details TBD.
That’s all for this week.
I’d love to hear from you so consider this an invitation to reach out to start a conversation.
Wishing you well,
Tai
Love that Pocket Thich Nhat Hanh, Tai!
